About This Diesel

The 1065 Union Pacific Alco Diesel was introduced by Lionel in 1961 and while it was only catalogued for one year, it has surfaced in later uncatalogued sets. This unit is very colorful with its painted yellow cab and red lettering & striping. It has a headlight and is also a very peppy engine with its light-weight chassis. However, it is considered a low-end engine because it lacks fancy trim and it was equipped with forward-only running gear.

Additional Details

The 1065 Union Pacific Alco Diesel only came as a single Power A unit (no companion dummy units were produced). Note that "Alco" is a nickname (or acronym) for the American Locomotive Company -- producer of real railroad locomotives.
