About This Space & Military Series Car

The 3535 Security Car was introduced by Lionel in 1960 and was sold for two years (through 1961). This unusual car resulted from another one of Lionel's efforts to combine (and modify) existing parts from various items to create new products for the marketplace. The 3535 is essentially a plain black flatcar with a cab and an operating searchlight. The unpainted red cab is decorated with white heat-stamped lettering and the AEC logo.

Additional Details

The 3535 is part of Lionel's "Space & Military" series. As with many of the items from that series, there are delicate parts that are vulnerable to improper handling. For example, the tabs that hold the cab onto the flatcar are sometimes broken. The guns and gun bracket are also fragile and are easily broken. Sometimes they are missing altogether. In addition, the searchlight assembly is often lost. Repro parts for all of these items are available. This car always came with AAR trucks.
