448 Missile Firing Range Platform (1961 - 63) |

About This Accessory
The 448 Missile Firing Range Set was introduced by Lionel in 1961 and was sold for three years (through 1963). It was initially included in Set #2574, a Super "O" outfit that Lionel named "The Defender." It was later available as a separate sale item. The base, which measures 5 inches deep by 9 inches wide, is tan and the firing mechanism is gray. This "Space & Military" accessory is a very hard item to locate.

Additional Details
The 448 Range Set came with some sad-looking bushes or lichen (to camouflage the platform), four white missiles, and a 6448 Exploding Target Range Car. The accessory could only be operated manually and hence, no controller or other automatic switch device was included.
