About This Freight Car
The 6464-900 New York Central Boxcar was introduced by Lionel in 1960 and was sold for seven years (through 1966). The 6464-900 came with a gray mold which was painted jade green. Further decoration was provided by white, black and red heat-stamped lettering plus the oval "NEW YORK CENTRAL SYSTEM" logo. Variations include different body types and the use of two different colored doors (jade green or black).

Additional Details
The 6464-900 boxcar was one of the more colorful pieces of rolling stock that Lionel produced in the postwar era. This item always came with plastic AAR trucks.
