About This Freight Car

The 6465 Cities Service Tank Car was introduced by Lionel in 1960 and was sold for three years (through 1962). The car's body is painted green with white rubber-stamped lettering. This 2-dome Tank Car is very similar to the 6045 Cities Service Tank Car.

Additional Details

The 6465 Cities Service came with AAR trucks. The car is very popular with collectors and operators alike as it both attractive and realistic. However, because it is a painted car, the paint itself chips and rubs off easily. In addition, the ends and the side catwalks are often broken. For these reasons, this car is somewhat difficult to find in collector-quality condition.
