6501 Jet Motor Boat Transport Car (1962 - 1963) |

About This Freight Car
The 6501 Jet Motor Boat Transport Car was introduced by Lionel in 1962 and was sold for two years (through 1963). It is also known as the Solid Fuel Motorboat Car, Jet Boat Car, and Flatcar with Jet Motorboat. The car is a red flatcar (mold #6511-2) with a gray cradle that is used to hold the boat. The boat has a white hull and a brown deck. Neither the car nor the boat have the 6501 catalog number.

Additional Details
This car came with "fuel pellets" (actually sodium bicarbonate) in a foil packet
(shown in the top picture above). Only AAR (plastic) trucks were used on this car.
