Buying an Accessory
If you are in the market for an accessory but
can't decide which one to choose, you may want to:
- Develop a theme to match the trains you already have. If you have a passenger set, consider
a passenger station. If you have a steamer, think about one of the water towers. If you have a
diesel, consider the 415 Diesel Fueling Station. If you have a military train, give the 175
Rocket Launcher or the 943 Exploding Ammo Dump some thought. If you have a work train, consider
any of the coaling or logging accessories.
- Consider the operation of your current layout. If you have a yard, consider the 195 Yard
Light or the 282 Gantry Crane or the 445 Switch Tower.
- Develop a theme to match the scenery of your layout. If you have a farm setup, consider the
352 Icing Station or the 3656 Cattle Car & Corral or any of the Milk Cars & Platforms.
- Consider the size of your layout. Signals are always useful to any layout but the 128
Newsstand provides a lot of animation for a single accessory. If you have the room, think about
the tandem operation of the 342 Culvert Loader and 345 Culvert Unloader. The 455 Oil Derrick is
also very impressive on a layout.
